Ecosafe Group Offers Affordable Chimney Removal to Improve Roof Insulation for Void Properties.

Recently, the roofing team at Ecosafe Group completed a project for a void property managed by BCP Council, overseen by Dan Hacker. The property’s ageing chimney had become a structural issue, allowing rainwater to leak through, leading to the risk of damp and mould. Instead of a short-term fix, we proposed a long-lasting solution, removing the chimney and reinforcing the roof.

Affordable Chimney Removal Project Overview

We began by carefully dismantling the chimney, ensuring the roof’s structural integrity remained intact. Once we removed the chimney to below roof level - we took steps to restore the roof’s strength and prevent future damage. This included:

Installing new rafters to support the roof structure.
Adding breathable felt to keep the roof dry while allowing moisture to escape.
Fitting freshly treated battens for strong tile support.

Once these essential layers were installed, we skillfully tiled the area - seamlessly blending new tiles with the existing roof.

This proactive solution was more cost-effective than repointing and repairing the chimney and also improved the roof’s overall insulation and weather resistance. The void property was returned to a safe and secure condition - ready for new tenants.
