When you think of the electrical department at a construction company, it is easy to picture electricians working on-site. But behind every successful job at Ecosafe Group is Chloe, the Electrical Administrator who ensures everything runs seamlessly from start to finish.
Chloe keeps things organised - the strength behind the team’s success! Handling materials, scheduling, client communication, quotes, and much more. She is there before a job starts and sees it through to the very end, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
However, her path into the industry was not conventional. With a background in teaching, hospitality, and travel, Chloe’s journey proves that hard work and transferable skills can take you anywhere.
From teaching and travel to construction: Chloe’s career path
What did you do before joining Ecosafe Group?
“I’ve always been in fast-paced jobs - teaching, hospitality, and travelling. I love learning new things and pushing myself to adapt, which is why I’ve enjoyed every role I’ve taken on. Hospitality taught me to handle pressure, multitask, and communicate effectively - all skills I use daily in my role now. Teaching helped me understand the importance of clear instructions, organisation, and working with different personalities. And travelling? That gave me problem-solving skills and resilience - you never know what’s coming next, so you have to be adaptable!”
A day in the life of an electrical administrator
Chloe’s day starts before most people have had their first coffee. She is the first point of contact for electricians, site managers, and clients, ensuring everyone knows what they are doing and where they need to be.
Her responsibilities include:
Scheduling jobs and allocating electricians to the right projects.
Ordering materials to ensure everything is on-site when needed.
Handling invoices and making sure jobs are billed correctly.
Liaising with tenants and site managers to keep everyone informed.
Managing complaints and issues, resolving them quickly and efficiently.
Assisting with quotes alongside qualified electricians.
Overseeing the entire process - from job setup to completion.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
“It’s rapid, and things can change in an instant. One minute everything is running smoothly, and the next, you’re dealing with last-minute changes, unexpected issues, or urgent requests. But I get enough of it! Problem-solving is one of my strengths, and I love making sure everything gets sorted.”
What is the most rewarding part?
“Seeing a job go from an initial enquiry to successful completion. Knowing I’ve played a role in making it happen - organising schedules, sorting materials, and handling client communication - gives me a real sense of achievement. Plus, I work with an amazing team, which makes all the hard work worth it!”
Going the extra mile: Chloe’s dedication to the team
Chloe’s work ethic is inimitable - she is not someone who only sticks to her job description. She always steps up to help wherever she is needed, whether that is:
Helping resolve on-site issues quickly.
Handling urgent client requests at short notice.
Taking on extra admin work to lighten the load for her team.
Supporting electricians by making sure they have everything they need before arriving on-site.
How do you support your team beyond your main role?
“I believe in making things easier for the people I work with. If that means taking on extra tasks, finding solutions, or even being someone they can rely on, I’ll do it. When I see a way to help, I don’t hesitate. We all work towards the same goal, and teamwork is everything.”
“Chloe is incredibly important to the electrical department; her attention to detail and dedication ensures everything runs seamlessly. Chloe is the vital thread that keeps the team connected, efficient, and always moving on track. Both myself and Tabitha feel very fortunate to have Chloe as part of the Electrical department.” - Nathan Kellaway, Electrical Supervisor.
The importance of women in construction
The construction industry is changing, and Chloe is part of that shift. While women are still unrecognised in the construction industry, Chloe proves that success in this field is not about gender - it is about drive, skill, and adaptability.
Did you ever think you would work in construction?
“Honestly? No! But once I got into it, I realised how much I love it. It’s exciting, challenging, and rewarding - every day is different. I also love proving that women belong in this industry just as much as anyone else!”
Future goals: What’s next for Chloe?
Chloe is not the type to settle - she is always looking for ways to grow, improve processes, and help Ecosafe Group continue to succeed.
Her future goals include:
Streamlining processes to make electrical job management even more efficient.
Mentoring new team members to help them develop their skills.
Expanding her knowledge of electrical work to take on even more responsibilities.
Final thoughts: Chloe’s advice for anyone considering a career in construction
What advice would you give to someone thinking about working in construction?
“Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. You don’t need to have a construction background - your skills matter. If you’re organised, hardworking, and willing to learn, you can build an amazing career in this industry!”
